Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Project Manager (Utility Field Operations – Oahu) is responsible for managing complex projects involving the design, installation, maintenance, and compliance oversight of gas infrastructure. This position will oversee project planning, execution, and documentation while ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and company goals.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads transmission and distribution system projects, overseeing all aspects of design, planning, relocation, installation, and maintenance while in alignment with company’s strategic goals.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive project plans detailing scope, schedule, budget, permitting, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinates project supervisors to maintain schedule and budget. Serves as the primary liaison between Hawaii Gas and contractors, developers, and public agencies, ensuring effective communication and resolution of issues.
  • Conducts quality control inspections and ensures the timely receipt of complete and accurate construction documentation.
  • Coordinates with departments to ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained and quantities are readily available to meet operational needs.
  • Build expertise in internal review and approval protocols for pipeline projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and seamless execution of workflow processes
  • Stays current with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Hawaiʻi Gas policies and procedures. Oversees staff training and evaluations to ensure job-specific compliance knowledge and adherence.
  • Collaborate across departments to identify infrastructure needs, contribute strategic initiatives, and support long-term planning objectives.


OTHER FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complies with all safety rules and cooperates in the fullest in the promotion of safety and safe work habits, to include the reporting of any unsafe conditions or acts. Maintains all EH&S training on a current basis.
  • Complies with all applicable corporate and Hawaii Gas policies and procedures.
  • Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner; performs housekeeping duties as required and/or instructed. Works in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Assists with reviewing department Operations and Maintenance (O&M) standards and procedures to conform to federal and local codes in coordination with the Superintendent, Distribution and the Engineering department.
  • May act in a supervisory capacity on an as-needed basis; subject to 24/7 callouts for operational support.
  • Performs all other related duties as instructed by manager.

Qualifications

Required Education and/or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil or Mechanical) or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in utility infrastructure or project management.
  • Knowledge of D.O.T. compliance, gas distribution systems, and public permitting processes.
  • Experience with project management tools and charts

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in utility infrastructure and project management.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
