Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The Process Equipment Operator (PEO) performs as a skilled operator of gas processing/making equipment used in tandem with fired equipment to manufacture Synthetic Natural Gas and by‐products in a 24/7 plant. Works independently under general supervision of the Shift Supervisor and direction of the Process Control Operator. Follows specific policies, procedures, standards, and/or orders in carrying out the duties. Assists the Process Control Operator when required or as assigned.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. As a member of a shift with operators of other processing equipment, operates gas processing/making equipmentand auxiliary equipment, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, sight and gauge glasses, storage tanks,reactor vessels, fans, blowers, etc. Starts up, observes, monitors, tends to, shuts off and isolates all such equipment.
  2. Responsible for maintaining process parameters such as pressures, temperatures, levels, and flows withinprescribed limits. Adjusts process equipment as trained and/or directed by the Shift Supervisor or Process ControlOperator. Reports any abnormal indications and/or conditions to the Shift Supervisor, operators, and/or appropriatepersonnel.
  3. Troubleshoots or performs preventative maintenance on gas processing making equipment assigned to includeoperability testing and non‐complex diagnostic testing. Makes adjustments and repairs to equipment as qualifiedand authorized, such as changing pressure gauges, performing lubrication, changing filters, cleaning strainers (e.g.for naphtha fuel, chemical injection pumps, instrument air, demineralizer, etc.), etc. Implements all preventativemaintenance actions according to schedule. Performs emergency repairs as required.
  4. Assists the Process Control Operator as needed in assuring quality control of SNG flow and/or production. Including:trouble shooting gas processing/making problems; taking samples from various plant streams to determine specificgravity and/or performing simple gas analysis.
  5. Monitors and logs readings and preventative maintenance actions taken on applicable company forms or inputsdata into software using PC terminal following established procedures; prepares reports as required. Initiates andupdates work requests and work orders, providing detailed documentation to facilitate effective resolution byothers.
  6. Authorizes and monitors activities in the plant, primarily in the PEO’s area of responsibility. Uses Stop WorkAuthority to prevent hazardous behaviors or conditions.
  7. Promotes and demonstrates the Company and Department safety culture to include the reporting of and resolutionof unsafe conditions or acts. Completes all EH&S training.
  8. Complies with all applicable Corporate, Company, and Department rules and policies.
  9. Supports the onboarding and development of new operators by sharing procedural knowledge and demonstratingstandard operating practices, as directed by the Shift Supervisor or Process Control Operator.

Qualifications

Required Education and/or Work Experience:

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Basic knowledge of and experience with mechanical systems.
  • Must have successfully completed the SNG Plant’s Fired Equipment Operator (FEO) and Process EquipmentOperator (PEO) training programs.
  • At least five (5) years of successful and progressive experience in various phases of the work involved in theoperation and preventive maintenance of compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, absorption columns,automatic control valves, boilers and their related auxiliary equipment; or satisfactory competence based onmanagement’s formal assessment.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:

  • High School Physics and Chemistry or equivalent.

Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation:

  • CPR/AED and First Aid.
  • Qualified to operate the SNG Plant’s scissors lift.
  • Qualified as a Fired Equipment Operator (FEO) by the SNG Plant’s qualification program.
  • Successfully completed PEO training within the past 24 months or qualified as a Process Equipment Operator(PEO) by the SNG Plant’s qualification program.
