Required Education and/or Work Experience:
- Completed all required Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal/State, OSHA Federal/State and NFPA courses or programs.
- Must maintain at least minimum passing scores per regulations, for all recurring Federal/State and NFPA courses or programs.
- Must possess a valid Class B, CDL license with Hazardous Material endorsement, with no restrictions on air brakes or transmission type, and valid Medical Examiner's Certificate per 49 CFR 391.41 through 391.49 and appropriate clearance certificate such as TWIC.
- Satisfactory completion of in-house Service Technician Training and Field Evaluation; must pass continuing refresher courses
- At least four years successful and progressive experience of which two years must have been as a Service Technician III; these experience requirements may be reduced at management’s sole discretion based on need and for the individual who demonstrates exceptional ability and skills to perform the duties of Service Technician II.
- Must have demonstrated the knowledge and ability to effectively install, repair, test and adjust gas appliances equipment and systems and have a work record of dealing tactfully and courteously with customers.
- Possesses a very good working knowledge of departmental operating rules and procedures, pertinent codes (such as NFPA #58 and #59) regulations, standards and safety rules/regulations/practices in addition to standard practices and procedures for this trade.
- Qualified in all phases of the work described.
- Very proficient in the proper use of the tools, materials, and equipment of the trade and have a good safety record.
- Must be a safe and competent driver, cognizant of all traffic laws and have a clean traffic abstract.
- Ability to use computer.
Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:
- Preferably a high school graduate with technical schooling.
