Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Performs the planning, organizing, coordinating and administration of all purchasing and materials management functions at the SNG Plant, including warehouse activities. Prepares management and compliance reports.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Reviews purchasing and materials inventory requirements and where necessary collaborates with the Plant Manager to plan and prioritize requirements. Uses computer to track inventory and prepare reports.
  2. Responsible for the operation of the SNG warehouse to include the receipt, storage, inventorying, issuing, and shipment of materials, supplies, tools, equipment and parts; ensures maximum effective utilization of storage space and equipment. Reviews spare parts inventory on a continuing basis and adjusts for current or foreseeable needs. Reconciles MP2 (CMMS system) inventory, Great Plains inventory, and inventory cards with each other and physical inventory. Packs, ships and signs for hazardous materials, including hazardous waste.
  3. Responsible for SNG Plant purchasing activities related to stock items and approved purchase requisitions. Obtains environmental and safety data (e.g. MSDS's) for EHS approval before purchasing. Develops and maintains approved vendor list. Negotiates purchase contracts and blanket purchase orders and maintains practices that are consistent with anti-trust laws. Coordinates deliveries; follow-up on materials purchase; apprises management personnel of status; picks up items from local vendors as necessary. Ensure timely payment of invoices.
  4. Compiles or maintains data relative to and prepares SNG Plant operations reports, including daily and monthly financial reports, PUC reports, foreign trade zone (FTZ) and customs reports, etc. Serves as key contact regarding reports and coordinates/resolves issues with reports.
  5. Develops warehouse processes and procedures in coordination with the Plant Manager consistent with Company policies and standards; implements Company or plant policies and standards.
  6. Performs a variety of administrative duties: Maintains electronic and manual files on all matters relative to the purchasing activity at the SNG Plant including equipment history parts file, and other files to include Traction (PSM action item database), SDS database, contractor database/file, and other files such as UIC, emissions, etc.
  7. Complies with and enforces appropriate safety rules and procedures for warehouse operations. Maintains EH&S training requirements to include HAZWOPER and chemical compatibility and hazmat training. Reports all unsafe acts and conditions and correct those within authority.
  8. Complies with all applicable MIC and Hawaii Gas policies and procedures.
  9. Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner; performs housekeeping duties as required and/or instructed. Works in a safe and responsible manner.

OTHER FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs all other related duties as instructed by supervisor/manager.

Qualifications

Required Education and/or Work Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 3+ years successful experience in all phases of the work described with proven administrative and organizational competence with good business skills.
  • Ability to operate lift truck.
  • Demonstrated good working knowledge of warehousing and purchasing activities.

Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation:

  • Certified and maintains certification for shipping hazardous material.
  • Valid driver's license and car required.
