    JOB SUMMARY  Performs first-line supervisory duties in planning, organizing, coordinating, scheduling, documenting and directing activities and personnel involved with the production of synthetic natural gas and by products; ensures quantity and quality standards are met.  Responsible for meeting all company-defined compliance requirements impacting this activity.

    Responsibilities

    1. Recommends hiring of, trains, and supervises assigned staff.   In conjunction with HR and/or Senior Leadership and in accordance to the CBA as applicable, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate.
    2. Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned staff.
    3. Manages payroll and/or non-payroll budgets, monitors expenditures and ensures compliance with budget.
    4. Consistently supports a culture of safety to ensure protection of our people, the community and the environment. Complies with all safety rules and procedures and reports all unsafe acts and conditions.
    5. Keeps abreast of all federal, state and local regulations, laws and the organization’s policies and procedures. Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
    6. Reviews work requirements and where necessary collaborates with the Operations Superintendent to plan and prioritize work assignments and projects to fulfill daily operational and support requirements.
    7. Supervises and coordinates the functions and plant operators associated with/engaged in the following:
      1. Production of synthetic natural gas and by products.
      2. Responsible for the job performance and conduct of assigned personnel ensuring high efficiency, production and the effective use of materials, equipment and resources.
      3. Ensures compliance with D.O.T., O.S.H.A., E.P.A. and local regulations, and company standards.
    8. Responsible for:
      1. The safe and proper operation of all plant equipment including fired boilers, hydrogen reforming furnaces, reformers, steam super heaters, pumps, compressors, emergency generators, demineralizers, control systems, etc. on his shift. Verifies that all equipment is rotated in accordance with the rotation schedule.
      2. Maintenance requirements of operating equipment and auxiliaries.  Checks for leaks in pipes and valves, and for signs of pending equipment failure.  Isolates equipment for repair in a safe manner.  Coordinates work requests with maintenance personnel and insures that repair work is completed as desired.
      3. Ensuring that appropriate measures are taken during his watch for the security and maintenance of all company assets and property.
      4. Monitoring reformer tube temperatures.
    9. Assists the Chemist in the analysis of boiler water on weekends and holidays.
    10. Takes appropriate measures for the security and maintenance of all company assets and property.
    11. Assists the Operations Superintendent in carrying out his/her duties and responsibilities as required.
    12. Prepares lessons and trains personnel as required; recommends personnel action; performs Step 1 of the grievance procedure in the Collective Bargaining Agreement; approves timesheet, requests for paid and unpaid absences. 
    13. Provides and enforces appropriate safety rules and procedures; provides for a safe work environment.  Coordinates and provides for EH&S and technical training programs; maintains records of all training conducted.  Complies with all written safety rules and procedures and reports all unsafe acts and conditions and corrects those within authority.  Performs as first-responder and Site Commander for emergency situations as necessary or required.
    14. Keeps abreast of federal, state and local codes and regulations pertaining to this activity.
    15. Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition; performs housekeeping duties as required. Complies with all safety rules and efficiency initiatives and cooperates in the fullest in the promotion of safety and safe work habits, to include the reporting of any unsafe conditions or acts.  Maintains all EH&S training on a current basis.
    16. Consistently supports compliance with the organization’s code of conduct by maintaining confidentiality of information, protecting organizational assets, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to the applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, licensure requirements (if applicable) and organizational policies and procedures.
    17. Consistently supports a culture of safety to ensure protection of our people, the community and the environment. Complies with all safety rules and procedures and reports all unsafe acts and conditions.

    Qualifications

    • Technical School certificate or equivalent combination of related experience and education.
    • Two years of in-field experience.
    • Good working knowledge of CFR 49 Part 191, 192, NFPA 54, Operations and Maintenance Manual.
    • Experience in a Union environment.
    • Proficient with Microsoft suite of tools (specifically, Word and Excel), in-house computer applications of SAP and ORCOM.
